Standards & Accreditation

Accreditation of health care organisations is an evaluation process carried out by an independent entity, to assess the level at which the health care organisation meets a specific set of standards.

The aim of the accreditation process is to improve the quality of patient services and employee and patient safety in the health care environment.

Accreditation agencies stay abreast of health care trends and revise their standards periodically to conform to proven best practices.

More and more health care providers move towards some type of certification, and lately preference is given to international accreditation. Not only has this become a benchmark for quality, but many insurance companies have realised the importance of standardisation, and are insisting on accreditation for re-imbursement purposes.
